RapidStudio’s Mandela Day: Giving Back to Our Community

When the question arose about what RapidStudio would do for Mandela Day on 18th July, an idea I’d been nurturing was brought to life. It involved creating large wall murals using our Paint-by-Shadow concept—painting over desaturated images printed on canvas. Most importantly, it allowed all our staff to actively participate in this meaningful project.

Finding the Right Charity

We wanted a strong connection between our business and the community. After searching, I discovered Ringarosy, a non-profit organization based at Santarama Miniland in Rosettenville—our very own neighborhood! Ringarosy operates a pre-school for children aged 2 to 6 and a Play and Learn Centre for after-school care.

About Ringarosy and Santarama Miniland

Founded by Chantel Meiring, Ringarosy focuses on transforming kids’ lives, their outlook, and opportunities. The organization also works to restore Santarama Miniland, a historical site featuring miniature versions of South Africa’s landmarks and heritage buildings. Unfortunately, due to dwindling sponsorships, the once-beloved attraction has deteriorated over the years.

To address this, Ringarosy has joined forces with Santarama Miniland to restore the site and create an Active Learning Library. You can support their efforts by signing their petition.

Our Mandela Day Project

After meeting with Chantel to understand their needs, we conceptualized three beautiful wall art designs reflecting the ethos of “transformation.” These designs were printed on canvas, ready to be brought to life by our team.

Giving Our Time and Love

On Mandela Day, our staff pledged their time and energy to paint these murals, dedicating far more than the symbolic 67 minutes. The day was filled with enthusiasm, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose.

The Impact

The murals not only brighten up the space but also bring joy to the children who see themselves reflected in the artwork. Chantel shared her gratitude, saying:

"Hi Julie,

The canvases look absolutely stunning—they brighten up the whole place! We can't wait to get the rest of the space fixed up and get more kids in. Thank you for your support and contribution. We truly appreciate everyone who made it possible."

Honoring Mandela’s Legacy

We’re proud of our collective effort and the impact we’ve had on the community, our charity Ringarosy, and most importantly, the children. We believe that Mandela would be proud of what we accomplished on this special day.
