Shop Safe - Security 101

This time of year, it’s more important than ever to be vigilant when shopping online. At RapidStudio, we ensure secure online shopping with a trusted name, but what about the other stores you visit on the internet?

Read on for three easy-to-follow tips to ensure you shop safely online.

1️⃣ Check for Concrete Contact Details

🕵️‍♀️ Look for a confirmed physical address and phone number on the website.

• If a store appears to be hiding its location or contact details, consider it a red flag. Think twice before shopping there.

2️⃣ Look for a Security Certificate

🔒 Reputable online stores use SSL protection for money transactions. SSL is an encryption method that ensures your personal and financial information is private and secure.

• When browsing, check that the website uses SSL encryption by looking for a padlock icon 🔒 in the address bar.
• If the store does not have SSL encryption, make sure it uses a secure payment provider like Payfast.
• ⚠️ Without SSL encryption, your private details could be intercepted by criminals.

3️⃣ Green for Go: Lock and Load

💡 An SSL encrypted site will show a green padlock in the address bar of your web browser. For an added layer of trust, a website using Extended Validation (EV) SSL will display the registered business name in the address bar.

✅ RapidStudio uses Extended Validation SSL certificates, verified by an internationally trusted authority. Your safety is our priority!
